Now is the time when everyone looks back at the “best” and the “worst” from the past year. Whether it’s movies, music or sporting events, it is fun to reflect on the good and bad from the previous 12 months.
One thing that is always good is a military discount. As a member of the military, you work tirelessly for our country. In return for your sacrifices and your commitment and dedication to our nation, many companies are happy to reward you with special savings.


The year is drawing to a close and we’ve decided to look back at some of the best military discounts of 2018 – which as of this publish date are still available:

CARS
Honda
$500 savings
Honda has a $500 Military Appreciation Offer that offers military personnel $500 savings towards any 2017 or newer Honda vehicle when you finance or lease with Honda Financial Services.
Toyota
$500 reward
Active duty military personnel or household member of U.S. military personnel including Gold Star families, as well as retirees and veterans within one year of retirement or discharge are eligible to receive a $500 reward rebate. This rebate can be used toward any new Toyota financed or leased through a dealer or Toyota Financial Services.

CELL PHONE PLANS
Verizon Wireless
Discounted plans
Verizon Wireless is offering military, veterans and their families monthly savings of up to $40 on unlimited plans with 3+ lines. Other plans are available at a 15% discount, and there is 25% savings on select accessories. Must enroll in Auto Pay to receive plan discount. Verizon Wireless is also giving away a $200 prepaid card per line when you switch, buy or activate a new smartphone.
In addition, Verizon Wireless will cover your deposit at any of its on-base locations and will freeze your account if you are deployed.

RECREATION
National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands
Free annual America the Beautiful pass
Current U.S. military members and dependents, as well as Reserve and National Guard members are eligible to receive a free annual American the Beautiful pass. The America the Beautiful pass covers the entrance fees and standard amenity fees for more than 2,000 national parks, national wildlife refuges and national forests and grasslands around the country. You can obtain a pass in person by showing a Common Access Card of Military ID at a federal recreation site.
Movie theatres throughout the U.S.
Discounted or complimentary admission
Military personnel and their families, as well as veterans, can enjoy the excitement of the silver screen at a reduced price at participating AMC Theatres. There are currently hundreds of eligible theatres located throughout the United States. To find a theatre near you, visit the military discounts section of the AMC website and locate your nearest offering.

Disney
Savings on hotels, park tickets, and more
When it comes to military-friendly companies, Disney ranks as one of the friendliest around. Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida and Disneyland® Resort in California both offer significant savings to service members in need of a little Disney magic.
Shades of Green® is a Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida and is exclusively for military personnel and their families. Its offerings include:

  • Affordable accommodations, dining options and golfing
  • 3% to 12% savings on theme park tickets and the tickets are tax-free
  • Discounts to activities and attractions outside of the Disney parks, including Universal Orlando Resort, Legoland®, SeaWorld Orlando, and more
  • Free bus pick-up and drop-off to the Disney parks

Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® also offer special military promotional tickets. Inquire at your military base ticket office for discount details.
Amtrak
10% off on lowest available rail fare
Active duty military personnel with valid military ID, their spouses and their dependents are eligible to receive 10% off the lowest available rail fare on most Amtrak trains, including the Auto Train.
Keep in mind that many local and nationwide businesses offer military discounts but do not advertise them. When you are shopping for a service or product, it never hurts to ask if one is available.
