Oktoberfest 2017
Oktoberfest, Fort Benning’s favorite fall tradition, returned to Uchee Creek Friday through Sunday, October 20-22 and Omni was there to celebrate with all of you! This year’s event featured a keg tossing competition, a Dachshund Derby, and stein hoisting contests.
A Masskrugstemmen, also known as stein hoisting is a traditional Bavarian endurance contest during which contestants hold a one-liter stein of beer in one outstretched arm for as long as possible. Two lucky winners of the annual Fort Benning Oktoberfest Stein Hoisting Competition won a trip for two to Munich, Germany, courtesy of Hofbräu.
Also part of this spectacular event is the 10K Cross Country Challenge. The dirt route winds deep into the wooded hills around Uchee Creek. This challenge is open to the public. Not to mention fun for the kids, with inflatables and a petting zoo as well as live performances by the Sonnenschein Express and yodelers
