Things to do Around Fort Campbell

Located in Kentucky on the border of Tennessee, Fort Campbell is one of the largest United States Army installations in the world.  Fort Campbell is home to several units including:

    • 101st Airborne Division
    • 160th SOAR
    • 5th Special Forces
    • 101st Combat Aviation Brigade
    • 101st Sustainment Brigade
    • 101st Field Artillery Division
    • 19th Air Support Operation Squadron
    • Blanchfield Army Community Hospital

Omni also considers the Fort Campbell area one of our homes. We have an office in Clarksville, TN, right near the base and the Clarksville Regional Airport.  Clarksville is a historic city on the Cumberland River that unites southern charm with natural beauty. Plus, it is within easy access to exciting Nashville which is approximately a one hour drive south. If you are moving or visiting this part of the country, we’d like to welcome you to the neighborhood!  Here are some local sights and activities our Clarksville team recommends seeing and doing:
View the beautiful scenery at McGregor Park and Cumberland RiverWalk
This scenic riverfront promenade and park is a favorite destination for locals and visitors. Walk or run on the 1-mile trail and enjoy views of the river and take a break in the picnic area. The park also has a playground and boat ramp.
Take part in the USO Ten Miler, 5K and Fun Run
If you happen to be in town in March, you won’t want to miss the USO Ten Miler, 5K and Fun Run, an annual fundraiser that supports the mission of the USO in Tennessee and Kentucky. The race is open to both military personnel and civilians and takes place on Fort Campbell’s Division Parade Field. Omni Financial team members participate in the race every year and we’d love to see you running, walking or cheering us on from the sidelines. It’s always a great time for a great cause.
Bike ride around town
A fun way to travel around downtown Clarksville is to use BCycle, an automated bike share system. Pick up a bike at a station and bike to your destination, then return the bike to your original station or another station. Memberships are available for one day or more and can be purchased online or at a B-station kiosk.
Shop at the Clarksville Downtown Market
On Saturdays starting in late May through October, you’ll find the open-air Clarksville Downtown Market in the City Hall parking lot at One Public Square. Shop for handcrafted items from local artisans and fresh vegetables and fruit grown by area farmers.  On select days the Market also features special events, live music and appearances by “Corny the Cob,” the Market mascot.
Visit the Customs House and Cultural Museum and Cultural Center
If you’re a history buff, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is a must-see. It is Tennessee’s second-largest general museum and is an architecturally stunning building that incorporates Stick, Gothic, Queen Ann, Italianate, Flemish and Romanesque styles. The museum is home to a variety of art, science and history exhibits. Kids will love the fun and educational Bubble Cave and the museum’s interactive model train exhibit – one of the largest model train layouts in the region.
Explore Dunbar Cave State Park
A quick 1.5-mile drive northeast of downtown Clarksville will bring you to Dunbar Cave, one of the largest caves in Montgomery County. The 8-mile long cave is located in Dunbar Cave State Park, a 144-acre park that draws visitors who want to enjoy the cave, caverns, rock formations and sinkholes, as well as the scenic Swan Lake, hiking trails, birding, and fishing. It’s also the perfect spot to photograph butterflies and wildflowers. Special events such as concerts often take place at the mouth of the cave.
Rock out at Jammin’ in the Alley
Music lovers should be sure to catch Jammin’ in the Alley, an annual free concert series that comes to Clarksville’s Strawberry Alley every summer.  Bring a chair and relax on Friday evenings while watching local bands play everything from Southern rock to blues, pop and more.
Whether you are moving to Fort Campbell on PCS orders or are currently stationed here, or you’re in town for a visit, we hope you enjoy your time here. We invite you to stop by our Clarksville office to say hello!
