National Coffee Day is September 29, a day to celebrate our love of java. National Coffee Day is also the perfect time to recognize veteran-owned coffee brands. There are quite a few former service members who have successfully transitioned from the military to building businesses and creating their own premium coffee blends. Here are a few veteran-owned coffee brands to consider the next time you want to try a new brew.

Alpha Coffee
Combat veteran LTC (R) Carl Churchill and his wife Lori founded this coffee company which was originally called Lock-n-Load Java. Now known as Alpha Coffee, they sell their premium coffee blends online, through other retailers and at their coffee shop in Utah. Blends have names like “Dawn Patrol,” “Task Force Zulu” and “Warrior Select.” Organic and decaf blends are available.
Alpha Coffee also sends a portion of every batch of coffee it roasts to deployed troops and has donated more than 16,000 bags of coffee since 2010.

Black Rifle Coffee Company
Evan Hafer, the founder of Black Rifle Coffee Company, originally started the premium small-batch, roast-to-order company to provide coffee to the pro-2A and veteran communities. He roasted coffee between his deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. The beans are imported from Colombia and Brazil and then blended, roasted and shipped. Black Rifle Coffee Company is also committed to supporting deployed service members, community programs and other causes “that strive to make our nation great.”
Counter Strike Coffee
Counter Strike Coffee founder Brandon is a U.S. Navy FMF Hospital Corpsman and combat veteran. Brandon produces premium coffee blends with military-inspired names including “American Valor,” “Fire Watch” and “Never Quit.” He also donates a portion of his proceeds to charitable veterans organizations.  In addition to coffee, he also sells a line of coffee- and military-related t-shirts.
G.I. Joe Coffee
G.I. Joe Coffee is veteran-owned and operated. Its founder, Tony D. Hudson, is a 10-year Air Force veteran and the company has a team of advisors that includes retired Colonel Jack Jacobs, a Medal of Honor Recipient. The design of the coffee packaging reflects the style of the 1940s and the names of the blends, such as “Always Ready” and “Lady Liberty” are inspired by patriotism and the military. Military and first responders can receive a 15% discount.
The company also donates funds to organizations that support disadvantaged, disabled and differently-abled veterans and is developing a franchise program designed to help provide entrepreneurship opportunities for veterans.
Ranger Candy Coffee
Ranger Candy Coffee is owned by veterans and every one of its employees is either a United States military veteran or a spouse of a military veteran. The company offers several coffee blends, flavored roasts and decaf coffee and the coffee is 100% American in-house selected, manufactured, packaged and shipped.
These companies can help you support our veterans and our troops while celebrating National Coffee Day. No matter what type of coffee is your favorite, you’re sure to serve up a delicious cup.

Send Dunkin’ Donuts coffee to a deployed service member
Dunkin’ Donuts also gives you a great way to celebrate National Coffee Day. If you know a deployed member of the United States Armed Forces, submit his or her name and they will send them a case of Dunkin’ Donuts’ ground Original Blend Coffee. Click here to make a military coffee request.
